How does one decorate a bathroom?
Thinking beyond toilets, sinks, and tubs.
It goes without saying that it is not only possible, but also very easy to overdo decor in a bathroom.
My personal preference and approach is always to keep things simple, pare them back, and leave some space. You don’t want an empty, unfinished, hotel-looking space (at least not in that sense), but you do want some personality, some story, and a sense of place (that isn’t too literal).
You might be thinking that a bathroom is purely for sanitary ware (toilets, sinks, tubs, etc.), but a room exclusively with sanitary ware feels, well, sanitary, and sanitary = cold. Think about the other spaces in your home: are they layered or simply functional? It’s likely the former.
In most of the other spaces in your home, you’ve given some thought to not only how you use the space, but also how you feel in the space. It can be easy to assume feelings are surface level and don’t require the level of attention something more concrete like a furniture need might need, but how you feel in a space is very often the difference between being calm versus being anxious, being focused versus being distracted etc.
